The Talented Midgets:
CH Kasan Too Cool, TD, PT, VA "Treve" (CH Kasan Dacin Lone Eagle x CH Kasan Cool Blue)
CH Foggy Bay Sneaking Suspicion, HSAs "Sleuth" (Arrowhill Accentuated x CH Kasan Cool Blue)
CH Arrowhill Blue Ice, PT, RN, CGC "Fresca" (Arrowhill Accentuated x CH Kasan Cool Blue)
Arrowhill Kelev Sans Serif, HT "Dahlet" (Arrowhill Accentuated x CH Kasan Cool Blue)
These dogs continue to bring us great joy and wonderful thrills. We're delighted and honored to have their grandfather/great uncle & Mom honored in the CCA ROMP Hall of Fame. ----- Over the past few years we've had a great time in the herding arena and tracking field. Collie fanciers' interest in performance activities has skyrocketed here in Northern California, and it's been wonderful to watch more and more collies shine in these venues. Watch this page for news about some of our favorite collies in performance activities.
Fresca has started us off with a bang in Rally and we're immensely enjoying the AKC's newest sport. On the road to her Rally Novice title, Fresca earned three legs in a row, with two second place finishes. Go Fresca! Next in the arena was our boy Sawyer (Foggy Bay Sentimental Journey), who quickly earned his RN with high placements and a perfect score! On to Rally Advanced!
Treve patiently awaits his turn to track...
...hits the trail...
...and gets his glove! Shown with judges Gail Burnham and Marti Kemper at the Davis DTC trial. Tracking involves a big investment of time, but its rewards are great. When conditions are right, it's something you and your dog can go off and do any time. For a nicely designed intro to the joys of tracking, see http://personal.cfw.com/~dtratnac/
Northern California All-Stars!
With great pride and pleasure we present one of our noblest relatives and favorite performance teams--Lynne Price and her Tevye. Every avid reader of the Collie Connection knows their story. Hampered for years by a perplexing joint ailment, Lynne began to wonder if Tevye would ever be well enough to finish his CDX. His aches subsided early in the year, and we were thrilled to hear Tevye had picked up the first two legs toward his title. Then disaster struck. In late Summer, both Lynne and Tevye were bitten by a rattlesnake on their own back porch! After a long, slow recovery, our team went back to the practice ring, and Lynne noticed a remarkable improvement in Tevye's jumping prowess. By December they were confident enough to schedule a date with destiny at the San Mateo DTC trial. Tevye came home that day with a green ribbon for his new title and a blue ribbon for his class placement, then went back a day later to gain an insurance leg! That's the kind of performance team this page is all about, and we celebrate their spirit.
(CH Tartanside Trailwind Tally Ho, UDTX, AX, HT, VX x CH Tartanside Silver Lining CD, TDX, NA, PT, VX) The inimitable Donner doing what he does best, and for that matter does better than just about everybody else. Donner belongs to Sue Larson, who has done as much as anyone to put outstanding performance collies on the map.
MACH CH Kimberee Hold That Dream, TDX, PT, AX, AXJ (CH Ballyhara Strike Up the Band x CH Kimberee When I Dream) How would you like it if you had to live with someone who has accomplished as much as Donner (to say nothing of Tally & Cloudy!)? Bright doesn't seem to mind a bit--she just trotted out and set a few records of her own. Already storming the agility circuit and halfway to her MX & MXJ, Bright has turned heads everywhere in performance venues. Perhaps most noteworthy is her astounding record in the tracking fields. Bright sailed through her TD at the ripe old age of 6 months and grabbed her TDX at 17months. She is the youngest collie to earn either of these titles. We can only sit back, smile and applaud whatever this young lady does next.
Bright in the very early stages of her tracking career.
"Arrow" is another local all-star who consistently demonstrates excellence (& enthusiasm!) in almost every performance area. Royana (Palmer) manages to keep up with this ball of fire in agility, obedience, tracking, conformation & herding. They are hard at work on Arrow's TDX & UD, as well as agility MACH points. Watch for their future exploitsl!
Sunrise Diane Celtic Dream, UDX (U-CD Sunrise Diane Duo Delight, UDX x CH Shannon Special Someone) Geordie's obedience stats are among the most impressive you'll see in our breed. Some of his more noteworthy accomplishments include being the #1 First and Foremost System collie for 1999 & 2000; #1 Delaney System collie for 1996; fourth place at the 1998 Pup-Peroni Western Regional Obedience Competition, and AWCA Awards of Merit for both 1998 & 2000. Geordie and his equally renowned owner, Judy Cummings, are an inspiration to us all. Faster than a speeding bulldog...more powerful than a Lhasa Apso...able to snatch entire hamburgers in a single gulp...Heeeeeeeeeere's TREBLE!!!!!
CH Merrytime Rhapsody In Blue CD, PT, OA, OAJ, VA (CH Lisara's Merrytime Rainmaker x Sumerset Spring Song) One of our very favorite All-Stars has been around just about as long as we have, and we really can't imagine the collie ring without her. Ever the crowd pleaser, Treble is distinguished as much by her high spirits and good humor as her performance finesse. Treble has our good friend Sarah Berrend tightly wrapped around her paw. Here's to you, Old Girl.
Treble doing a very early sit-stay. A new venue for Fogpup performers? Under the watchful eye of Auntie Lynne (Price), Nana & her brother Gimmel took to carting like ducks to water. But their mother Misty looked like she had been doing it all her life. Carting is yet another way for collies to demonstrate their versatility, serve a constructive purpose, and have a fine time.
Arrowhill Kelev Calligraphy, HIC (Arrowhill Accentuated, HIC x CH Arrowhill Dacin Silver Mist, HIC) "Gimmel" transports the notorious Luvey Tuttle.
Nana gets some helpful carting pointers from Auntie Lynne. But we still have to convince her that Poodles are acceptable passengers.
Kasan Cheyenne, OA, OAJ, HIC (Arrowhill Oklahoma Sooner x London's Foggiest Notion) We're very proud of the joyous Chey, who stormed the agility field and quickly snagged his titles and several top class placements. Chey & his sister Sparkle( The Cute) own Laurie Valentine and Chuck Cranston.
